Five things that got me through this week:
Hearing “Mommy” – All. Day. Long.
My 16 month old has been able to say “mama” for quite some time now, but it was mostly just used when she was crying to be picked up or fed. This week, “mama” has turned into “mommy,” and I hear it nonstop throughout the day. As she points to pictures throughout the house, when she looks up from her toys and sees me, when she comes running down the hall towards me, it is “mommy, mommy, mommy” all day long. I am sure there will be a day that I will want her to stop saying it every thirty seconds, but right now, I am absolutely loving it.
In the last week we have had two play dates, and as much as I love that Juliet gets to run around and socialize with children her age, I really need them for my own sanity. I have been lucky enough to meet some really great moms, that have now become friends, and although we spend most of the time chasing after our toddlers, when we do have time to talk, it is so encouraging. Sure, we do the comparisons and questions, asking for any tips or tricks the other may have in
dealing with a wild toddler, but the moments in between are truly spent in admiration of what the other is able to accomplish each day.
She has a toddler? And a baby? And she took a shower? Wow.
The respect we have for each other has helped build my confidence and kept me going this week.
Give me all the gingham
Have you all seen J Crew this summer?! I could literally purchase every piece of gingham in the collection! We have three vacations planned this summer and the first is at the end of this month. I will obviously need new clothes for this vacation, so this top and dress are two pieces on my list.
Two nights of uninterrupted sleep
My first child was sleeping through the night by two months. I know, we were lucky. But now that I know that something like this is possible, I am trying everything I can think of to get my second to do the same. She is almost three months old and all I want for
me and my husband her is to be able to sleep through the night. Well, this week we had two nights in a row of her sleeping from 9pm to 7am! Last night would have been the third night, but she decided she missed seeing me at 4am, so for now, we will just have to celebrate the two nights.
These toys that entertain Juliet for hours and hours and hours and…
If you have a toddler girl (sorry, I have absolutely zero experience with boys), you need to buy these toys for her.
Juliet spends hours at a time entertaining herself (which is super important when you are trying to feed a 2 month old), playing with all of the figures. She makes them talk to each other, kiss, hug each other, then she hides them, finds them, puts them on shelves, brings them to different rooms, it is truly hours of fun for her. We actually have almost every set available, from Peppa the Pig, to Sofia the First, and she knows each of their names! These figures are used daily and have been the only toys that haven’t been tossed aside for newer or better.
Thanks to these five things, we have made it to Friday! Have a great weekend!
